She is walking this route in aid of Scottish Borders Versus Arthritis and undertaking this challenge because her daughter was diagnosed with an inflammatory arthritis at the age of 16. Until this time she naively associated arthritis with older age and joint degeneration causing aches and pains.   She now knows that it covers a range of conditions and causes not only extreme pain in joints and muscles but can affect other parts of the body such as the immune system thus having a much wider impact on the lifestyle. She is aiming to raise £5000 and also raise awareness of the condition and its impact on people of all ages. She will start her walk on April 29th 2019 and aims to finish in Santiago around 35 days later.
