Sat 23rd Mar – Borders Pub Theatre at County Hotel, Selkirk 7.30pm-9pm

Join us for an evening of new writing in the Scottish Borders.

Borders Pub Theatre is an exciting new venture to promote and encourage new writing in the Scottish Borders. The first event ‘In the Beginning’ will take place at The County Hotel, Selkirk on Saturday 23 March.

Featuring plays by local playwrights from Galashiels, Greenlaw, Hawick, Kelso, Penicuik and Melrose, the evening of new writing will be inspired by the very apt theme ‘In the Beginning’. The wildly different interpretations of this theme will be performed by local professional actors in a series of short plays:

Mozart & Salieri by Thomas Clark
Secretly Edgy by playwright Jules Horne
It’s Pronounced Stow by Campbell Hutcheson
Stop Procrastinating by Anita John
Form 4a Section Nothing by Emily Larner
The beginning of the end of the First World War by John McEwen
Butcher Play by L.J. McIntyre
Worth a Second Look by Robert Sproul-Cran

The plays will be semi-staged and directed by Caitlin Skinner, founder of The Village Pub Theatre, and local director Clare Prenton.

On top of all this – there will also be a raffle with lots of prizes, including cakes and plays!

Borders Pub Theatre has been founded by playwrights who were originally part of the Scottish Borders Playwriting Programme run by Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland.
