TWILIGHT TOUR – GUNSGREEN HOUSE
Thursday 29 September
7-8.30pm. Gunsgreen House, Gunsgreen Quay, Eyemouth, TD14 5SD Telephone 01890 752062 £5 per person. Come along for an out of hours, exclusive tour of Gunsgreen.
The house was built in 1753 by local smuggler John Nisbet, and of a John Adam design. The architecture includes secret hiding places where smuggled goods were kept. Visit Gunsgreen and see the amazing ‘tea chute’- the only one of its kind, where smuggled tea was hidden from prying eyes. Discover Gunsgreen’s exciting history on this unique tour. Gunsgreen currently has an exhibition of John Bellany's work, he was the most influential Scottish painters of the last century, establishing a narrative, figurative art at a time when Modernism and abstraction seemed invincible. You will also get chance to see the three Bellany's in the Gunsgreen House Trust collection (these are not always seen by the public).
