Abundant Borders is a group of like-minded people who care about harnessing the amazing fertility of the Border’s people and land to create a network of local food production, small scale forest gardening and enterprise skills.
By working with partners we aim to help alleviate food poverty and we will work to ensure that everyone, regardless of their personal circumstances, can have access to healthy, nutritious food.
We work closely with local people, as experts and as volunteers, and will foster an interest in growing and seeking out locally produced food.
Abundant Borders seek to develop a few sites involving volunteers, young people and unemployed people to grow food and develop areas for recreational use.
Those involved will learn about building soils, growing food, preparing healthy meals and more generally developing skills to grow self-dependency and promote healthy living. In the process they will increase their employability as they will develop confidence, learn new skills and how to work as part of a team.
