SQA, REHIS Approved Trainer | CSCS Health And Safety Training
After being made redundant in April 2015 I took the decision to use my skills gained in the delivery of training in Health and Safety as a consultant. My first port of call was to the Business Development Unit within Borders College who gave me the opportunity to develop a market within the city of Edinburgh. After several months of meeting many voluntary and statutory organisations I had established a network of agencies who could refer their service users onto courses on which they could learn basic knowledge in Health and Safety that would allow them to attain the CSCS cardΒ which in turn would enhance their opportunities in securing employment within the construction industry. Job Centre Plus were very happy to refer their customers onto the course as they were already projecting a shortfall of labourers within the cityβs booming construction industry. Within several months I parted with Borders College on amicable terms as my vision was focusing on supporting individuals within some of the most socially deprived areas within the city. I started to work alongside Community Renewal in Muirhouse whereon much success was gained in securing employment after attaining the CSCS card for many Community Renewal service users. The informal working arrangement with Community Renewal developed into other areas across the city where similar success has been secured through employment. I have since undertaken work for Community Renewal in Glasgow where we successfully delivered two courses to the Romany community which resulted in 100% of candidates securing paid employment, as a direct result of this I have now also gained further work with two industrial cleaning companies in Glasgow which provides regular ongoing work with the delivery of training for their new employees.
