Encompass is a user-lead organisation, registered as a charity and a company limited by guarantee.  We have been providing our services to people in the Scottish Borders since 1999.

We provide support services to people enabling them to have more choice, flexibility and control of their own care.

Self Directed Support (SDS) is the way in which care is provided in the UK and Encompass work in partnership with Scottish Borders Council to advise individuals in the Borders about SDS and the options they have with regard to how their care needs can be met.

One of the options of SDS is a Direct Payment and Encompass services specialise in supporting people who choose this as an option.  A Direct Payment can be used to employ your own care staff and we are on hand to offer advice and support on all aspects of being an employer.  We offer a full, comprehensive payroll service, employment support which includes recruitment, interviewing, liaising with potential employees to establish reliable and bespoke packages of care and a third party banking service where we can hold your budget and organise payment of wages etc.

We are based in Galashiels but our Employment Support Advisors conduct home visits across the whole of the Borders to give advice and support on SDS.  You can contact us directly or get in touch with your local social work office who will put a referral through to ourselves.
