Peebles Burgh Silver Band is a Registered Charity (SC042447). The Ban’s charitable purpose is to foster and encourage the study and practice of instrumental music in Peebles and its surrounding area.

We are a voluntary and self-funding organisation that is open to members of all ages, abilities and denominations. We can and do provide free tuition to all individuals and take pride in ensuring through continual fundraising that no individual pays to be part of the organisation, be this uniforms, instruments, music or professional conductor fees.

PBSB is an essential part of the community taking part in events such as Beltane Week, the town’s Remembrance Service, playing Christmas Carols each December Saturday morning on the High Street, taking part in the Christmas Lights Switch-On, playing for residents at Haylodge Hospital and Dovecote each Christmas Eve, representing the Town at other Border Festivals.

As already mentioned, PBSB and PBSB Youth Band are open to all. We welcome visitors to the town who may wish to either participate or simply listen to a rehearsal.

Our fundraising efforts are centred on the town and our local residents. We raise funds through charging for entry to the three concerts we hold annually, our 4-5 coffee mornings, street concerts where we play on occasional Saturday mornings on the High Street, December morning where we play carols on the High Street, an annual raffle and our newly created 100 Club (which is primarily for band members and close associates).

We consider that through all our activities we are inclusive and open to the general town public with an age range of 7 to 73 years old at present totaling around 50 members.
