I’ve been drawing and painting since I was very young and vividly remember winning my first drawing competition at school age 10, becoming the proud recipient of a very nice set of drawings pencils! It’s become a bit of an addiction for me since then and I can’t remember a period in my life when I haven’t drawn or painted in one form or another.
I live in the Scottish Borders, a beautiful, atmospheric part of the country, steeped in myth and legend. If I’m not wandering the countryside with my whippet assistant Kelpy, we can both be found in my home studio in Galashiels.
I find inspiration in both wild and domestic animals and their odd quirks and funny ways. I have a particular fondness for sighthounds and their long snouts (no surprise considering a whippet owns me!) I paint using acrylics, a vibrant and quick drying medium and I also produce pen sketches, a medium that allows for quick movement across the page.
I produce pet portraits and original works for exhibition as well as developing an ongoing range of greetings cards and printed products, which I sell in galleries and shops throughout Scotland as well as online. I can be found at makers fairs and pop up shops at different times of the year – please look up the events section on my page for more information.
If you would like to take a look at my work for sale, please head over to my Etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/sarahcoxartwork I also have cards available at Thortful www.thortful.com/creator/sarahcoxartwork and you can also find me on Instagram www.instagram.com/sarahcoxartwork
I paint pet portraits to commission – if you have a cherished furry (or non furry!) friend that you would like immortalised in a painting or drawing, please don’t hesitate to contact me and we can have a chat about what you are looking for.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read my blurb!
