ECO4 grant scheme

Scottish Energy Grants provide access to free government-backed funding through the ECO4 energy efficiency scheme. ECO4 is designed to reduce CO2 emissions, and help households deemed to live in fuel poverty (including rural homes), cope with the rising cost of heating and electricity bills.

Eligible households can claim up to £50,000 in non-repayable grants to make their homes more energy efficient.

Eligibility

Property eligibility
The ECO scheme is open to homeowners and private tenants who live in a property which is off the gas grid (where the main heating type is either electric, oil or LPG). The property must have a low energy rating (E-G).

Personal eligibility
To qualify for the scheme, someone who resides in the property on a permanent basis must receive one of the following means-tested benefits:

  • Pension Savings Credit
  • Pension Guarantee Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Income based Jobseekers allowance
  • Income related Employment & Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Tax Credits (Child or Working Tax Credit)

If the above criteria is met, we can arrange a free home survey and arrange funding from one of the major utility companies to install the following energy saving measures:

  • Air source heat pump central heating
  • Solar panels
  • Loft and roof insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Internal solid wall insulation
  • Heating controls (time & temperature zone controls)

The ECO (Energy Company Obligation) scheme is available until March 2026. OFGEM is in charge of administering it. More information can be found at the following link:  ECO Funding.
